How to Measure Your Toddler for Jeans
Trying to measure a toddler with a tape measure can be... optimistic.
Instead, we recommend finding a pair of pants they already own that fit them reasonably well and measuring those.
It's much easier, and you don't have to convince a toddler to stand still. Then compare them to our size chart.
What you'll need
- A pair of pants that currently fit your toddler
- A tape measure or ruler
- A flat surface
Lay the pants flat and smooth them out without stretching the fabric.
1. Waist
Measure straight across the waistband from one side to the other.
If there is elastic - pull this out flat.
If you want the full waist measurement, double that number, however our size guide just uses the ½ measure

2. Seat / Hip
Measure straight across the pants about ½ way between the waist and the crotch seam.

3. Inside leg
Measure from the crotch seam down the inside leg to the bottom of the leg.
Again, keep the pants flat, don't stretch them.

4. Overall length
If you're comparing different styles, it can also be useful to measure the overall length.
Measure from the top of the waistband down to the bottom of the leg at the side seam.

Now compare the measurements
Have a look at the measurements listed on the fit of the pair of jeans you're interested in and compare them with your toddler's current pants.
They don't need to be exactly the same.
In fact, we'd expect there to be some differences depending on how the existing pants fit, the style of the jeans and how much growing room you're after.
Our jeans also have an adjustable waist, so you can pull the elastic to fit the size you need for your little one.
What if you're still not sure?
Just ask!
Because our jeans are made in small batches, we can help you compare the measurements of the actual pair you're looking at with a pair of pants your toddler already wears.
A quick message with the measurements of their favourite pair is often enough for us to help you work out whether a pair is likely to fit.
And that's it.
No wrestling with a tape measure. No trying to get a toddler to stand still.
Just find a pair of pants that fits them well, lay them flat, and measure those.
